Results of First Photoshoot

Here are some of the photos from my first photoshoot:

These are some of the better pictures from my photoshoot.

Photo Planning

I am using Lauren and Nicole as my models. They are required to pose in various positions. I have told them what to wear for the shoot, and Lauren will wear an oversized tartan checked shirt with cranberry coloured checks, I want the makeup to be grunge inspired so I will be doing cranberry coloured eye makeup which will be quite messy. As she is going to be photographed I need her skin to look flawless, which means I will have to conceal blemishes on her skin, however I will not be using concealer under her eyes as I want to give her a tired sort of look which goes with the grunge theme. As for the lips I will use a nude lipstick so it kind of gives her a dead washed out look. Nicole will wear an oversized floral shirt, and in some pictures, a bowler hat. For her makeup, I want it to be 60s mod inspired, which means she needs to have flawless skin. The eyes need to be clean with neutral colours but a defined crease, almost like a cutcrease but a bit more blended, the eyeliner will be winged but quite thin, I will use a bit of black under the eye, but not in the waterline, to give her eyes a doll like appearance. Her look will give off an Indie vibe which is also one of the genres for my magazine. Lauren and Nicole both have big, curly hair which I have told them to keep natural as I think it will look good in my pictures.
I am using my living room as the location, as the walls are white and there is good lighting as there is a lot of natural light coming in. However there are some risks e.g. if some of the decorations in the living room fall on the models, if this does happen I will give ice to the models. To minimise the risks of this happening I will remove all the decorations surrounding the area I will take my pictures in.
As Lauren will represent grunge I have asked for her facial expressions to be quite simple. I want her to look like she doesn't really care as this kind of behaviour represents grunge. I want Nicole to have more happy/dreamy facial expressions as she will represent the genre of indie music. Indie music is often represented as happy and outgoing so I want Nicole to reinforce this.
It will take about 1 1/2 hours to set up as I need to do their makeup and sort the costume out. Obviously I will use a camera and a tripod.

Moodboard

This is my moodboard and all of the images on it construct representations for my magazine. It gives an idea of the sort of content my magazine will feature and a suggestion of brand identity and values. Furthermore it also develops an idea about what the genre is and what type of audience my magazine will appeal to. I have pictures of many artists e.g.  arctic monkeys, the smiths, the libertines, oasis, the clash and many more. This gives us an idea about the genre of the magazine rock/alternative/indie/punk/grunge and what type people are going to be represented in my magazine. I have also used high fashion models as my magazine is going to focus on fashion and clothes as well. I have put on television programmes that my target audience will like, such as misfits and the walking dead. This is because I want my magazine to feature content like that. I have put coke zero on there because it is likely to feature as an advert on my magazine. I have a picture of a camera to represent photography as my magazine will focus on good quality photos. I have put the Reading 2011 logo on there as it fits in with all of the genres.

Photo Planning Sheet

All the models can be either looking at the camera or away from the camera. It can just be a shot looking forward or at from a low angle looking up to signify power, it could be at a high angle as well if there is more than one artist, like a band or something. The costume can either be very smart i.e. suit and tie, for men. Girls can have smart clothing too like buttoned up shirt. The makeup can be quite simple - flawless skin with no blusher just bronzer so it looks natural, eyes can either be with winged eye liner and neutral eyeshadow or a bit of a heavier grungey eye (a bit messy and dark). Lips can either be neutral or red or even a stained pink lip, the stained lip or red lip will go with the grungey heroin chic inspired makeup. I want one of the looks to be pin up inspired with winged eyeliner and a defined red lip. For the lighting, I want to use high key lighting and I want it to be quite bright. I also want to experiment with filters like black and white. The subject(s) will be either young males or females, aged between 16-25.
